HARRISBURG -- Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) Chairman Wendell F. Holland recently was named President of the Mid-Atlantic Conference of Regulatory Utilities Commissioners (MACRUC).

Chairman Holland replaces former Pennsylvania Commissioner Glen R. Thomas as President of MACRUC, which is made up of utility regulators from Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, the Virgin Islands, Virginia and West Virginia

“Electrons, natural gas pipelines and telephone wires don’t end at a state’s borders,” said Chairman Holland.  “By working together, Mid-Atlantic regulators can monitor the important decisions pending at the federal level, and advocate on behalf of our region before Congress and other regulatory agencies.  We also can share experiences and work together on issues as varied as electric reliability, consumer education and protections, telecommunications relay service, and alternative energy sources.”

The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission ensures safe, reliable and reasonably priced electric, natural gas, water, telephone and transportation service for Pennsylvania consumers, by regulating public utilities and by serving as responsible stewards of competition.
