HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) today approved a settlement of a rate increase request by Wonderview Water Company that increases consumer rates, but not to the level the company originally requested.
Under the settlement, the annual bill for an average customer using 60,000 gallons of water would increase by approximately $60 (13 percent) from $399 to $459. The company’s original proposal raised the average annual bill by about $92 (23 percent) to $492.
The Commission approved the settlement by a vote of 5-0. As part of the settlement, Wonderview cannot apply for another rate increase for at least 18 months. The rate increase will affect about 150 customers in the Wonderview Development in Main and Catawissa townships, Columbia County.
