PUC OKs Lower Surcharge Rate than Sought by Jackson Sewer Company

HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) today approved a lower surcharge rate than requested for Jackson Sewer Company.

Under the Commission approved rate, the monthly surcharge portion of the customer's bill will decrease by 22 cents from $59.52 to $59.30. The company’s original proposal raised the monthly bill by about $23. The decrease will affect about 194 customers in Red Lion, York County.

On Nov. 30, 2005, Jackson Sewer Corporation filed for an increase in the wastewater treatment surcharge to $83.14 per month/per customer, to become effective Jan. 1, 2006.

The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission ensures safe, reliable and reasonably priced electric, natural gas, water, telephone and transportation service for Pennsylvania consumers, by regulating public utilities and by serving as stewards of competition.
