Electric Utilities and Electric Grid Managers to Brief PUC on Reliability for this Summer

HARRISBURG – Pennsylvania’s electricity providers and PJM Interconnection will brief the Public Utility Commission (PUC) on their plans to meet the demand for electricity throughout the Commonwealth during the summer months, particularly at peak times. 

The briefing will take place at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 24, in the PUC’s Executive Chambers on the 3rd Floor of the Commonwealth Keystone Building.

Topics that will be covered during the meeting include:  forecasted load and capacity; vegetation management; heat emergency plans; environmental considerations and the effects of natural gas prices on generators.         

Speakers at the meeting will include:

  • Tom Falin, Manager, Capacity Adequacy, PJM Interconnection;
  • John Lawhorn, Manager, Economic Studies and Models, Midwest Independent Systems Operator;
  • J. Michael Love, President and CEO, Energy Association of Pennsylvania; and
  • Douglas L. Biden, President, Electric Power Generation Association.
