HARRISBURG—The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) today approved an agreement for a lower rate increase than requested by DuBois City Water Bureau.
Under the settlement, the city water bureau will raise rates by about $92,000 (25.88 percent). The bill for an average residential customer living outside the city limits will increase from $161.48 a year to $198.60 a year, according to the settlement. The company’s original proposal called for a rate increase of about $129,350 (36.4 percent) with average residential bills increasing to $219.80 a year.
The city water bureau cannot file for another general rate increase before August 17, 2008, according to the settlement, which was reached between the company, the state’s Office of Consumer Advocate, the state’s Office of Small Business Advocate and the Commission’s Office of Trial Staff.
The City Water Bureau serves more than 4,460 people in the City of Dubois and the surrounding Sandy Township, Clearfield County.
