PUC Fines Pittsburgh Limousine Company $18,000

Published on 9/15/2006

HARRISBURG, Pa. – The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) today fined Pegasus Chauffeured Motor Cars $18,000 for violating the Public Utility Code.

The Pittsburgh company operated its vehicles for 36 days while its certificate of public convenience was suspended for failure to have evidence of insurance on file with the Commission.

By law, companies are required to hold a certificate of public convenience from the PUC in order to transport property, passengers or household goods within the state.  Holding a certificate of public convenience ensures that the company has met all of the PUC’s safety and insurance standards.

The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission ensures safe, reliable and reasonably priced electric, natural gas, water, telephone and transportation service for Pennsylvania consumers, by regulating public utilities and by serving as stewards of competition.
