PUC Approves Settlement with Bryson Trucking Inc.

           HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) today approved a settlement agreement with Bryson Trucking Inc., of West Grove, who failed to fill proper evidence of insurance with the Commission.       

            As part of the settlement, Bryson Trucking Inc., will pay a $5,500 fine.

            The PUC’s Bureau of Transportation and Safety filed a complaint on June 14, 2005, against Bryson Trucking Inc., alleging the company had been operating its vehicles on 11 occasions during a period in which their certificate of public convenience was suspended for failing to provide proof of cargo insurance with the Commission.

            By law, companies are required to hold a certificate of public convenience from the PUC in order to transport property, passengers or household goods within the state. Holding a certificate of public convenience ensures that the company has met all of the PUC’s safety and insurance standards.

            The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission ensures safe, reliable and reasonably priced electric, natural gas, water, telephone and transportation service for Pennsylvania consumers, by regulating public utilities and by serving as stewards of competition.
