HARRISBURG – Beginning with the public meeting on Thursday, Oct.19, 2006, the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) will  offer consumers and other interested parties the ability to download recorded audio transcripts of public meetings, en banc hearings and other select Commission proceedings from the Commission’s Web site.

“Being able to offer audio of our public meetings and hearings increases the ability of consumers and other interested parties to monitor PUC proceedings without having to travel to Harrisburg,” said Commission Chairman Wendell F. Holland. “Offering this valuable service continues with our efforts to ensure a 21st century PUC.”

A link to the clip will be accessible at the Public Meeting Calendar page of the Commission’s Web site and will be posted shortly after the conclusion of the public meeting or other event. To access the clips you must have an Internet connection and have Windows Media Player or similar audio program installed on your computer.  Clips will be available for six months after posting.

The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission balances the needs of consumers and utilities to ensure safe and reliable utility service at reasonable rates; protect the public interest; educate consumers to make independent and informed utility choices; further economic development; and foster new technologies and competitive markets in an environmentally sound manner.
