PUC Fines Larry A. Kitchen $10,000

HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) today fined Larry A. Kitchen $10,000 for violating the Public Utility Code.

Larry A. Kitchen from Westover, Clearfield County, was fined for transporting property for compensation without a certificate of public convenience.

By law, carriers are required to hold a certificate of public convenience from the PUC in order to transport property, passengers or household goods within the state. Holding a certificate of public convenience ensures that the carrier has met all of the PUC’s safety and insurance standards.

The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission balances the needs of consumers and utilities to ensure safe and reliable utility service at reasonable rates; protect the public interest; educate consumers to make independent and informed utility choices; further economic development; and foster new technologies and competitive markets in an environmentally sound manner.
