PUC OKs License for Provident Energy Consulting to Provide Natural Gas to Large Customers

HARRISBURG– The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) today approved Provident Energy Consulting as a natural gas supplier for large commercial, industrial governmental and institutional consumers in the several areas throughout the state.

The Commission voted unanimously to approve the license for the company to begin providing natural gas supply service in the territories of Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania Inc.; Dominion Peoples; National Fuel Distribution Corp.; PECO Energy Co.; PPL Gas Utilities Corp., UGI Utilities Inc.; UGI Penn Natural Gas Inc; and Valley Energy Inc.

Pennsylvania natural gas consumers have the right to choose who their natural gas supplier from those who are licensed to do so within their service territory.

The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission balances the needs of consumers and utilities to ensure safe and reliable utility service at reasonable rates; protect the public interest; educate consumers to make independent and informed utility choices; further economic development; and foster new technologies and competitive markets in an environmentally sound manner.
