PUC Announces Appointment to Consumer Advisory Council

HARRISBURG –The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) today ratified a legislative appointment to its Consumer Advisory Council (CAC), which provides input to Commissioners on consumer-related issues.

The appointment was made by House Consumer Affairs Committee Chairman Robert W. Godshall (R-Montgomery), of Joseph E. Toner III of Exton, a Uwclan Township supervisor and president-elect for the Chester County Association of Township Officials. The Commission unanimously approved the two-year appointment of Toner, who is retired from the telephone industry, the chairman of the Board of Trustees for Manor College, founder and chairman of the Uwchlan Township Industrial Development Authority and vice chairman of the Uwchlan Township Planning Commission. Toner also serves on numerous boards and task forces throughout Southeastern Pennsylvania.

Earlier this year, the Commission reappointed the following “at-large” members to two-year terms from July 2007 through June 2009:  Robert A. Christianson; Cynthia J. Datig; John Detman; Harry S. Geller; Thomas A. Leach; Joseph Minott; Dr. Daniel M. Paul; and Lee Tolbert.  The Commission also reappointed two members previously appointed by legislators Joseph H. Capozzolo and Linda Roth. 

The Commission also ratified the appointments of Howard Shakespeare who was reappointed by Lt. Gov. Catherine Baker Knoll; Richard Melvin Adams Jr. who was appointed by House Consumer Affairs Committee Chairman Joseph Preston Jr. (D-Allegheny); Robert N. Dampman who was appointed by Senate Consumer Protection & Professional Licensure Committee Chairman Robert M. Tomlinson (R-Bucks).

The Consumer Advisory Council advises the PUC Commissioners on matters related to the protection of consumer interests under the jurisdiction of the PUC.  Council meetings are open to the public.
