HARRISBURG -- The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) today announced the appointment of Robert C. Gramola of Lancaster as the Director of the Bureau of Administrative Services.

Gramola will replace Director Peter B. Dalina, who is retiring.  Gramola’s appointment is effective on Jan. 7.

“The Public Utility Commission is an agency of experts.  Technical and legal experts in utility regulation,” Chairman Wendell F. Holland said.  “Today, we bring to the PUC an expert in business management, administration, procurement and budgeting.  Bob Gramola brings to the PUC a reputation for getting the job done.”

Gramola currently is the Director of the Bureau of Driver and Vehicle Program Services, which services about 1,200 employees, for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT).  He previously served as the Business Manager and Division Chief of the Business Management and Administrative Division of the Bureau of Aviation at PennDOT.  He has handled the various aspects of assembling an agency’s budget and led Information Technology personnel.  During his two years of service with PennDOT, Gramola participated in the Senior Leadership Academy, which enhanced his management skills.
Gramola has 30 years of work experience, including 25 years as a manager in the private sector, most recently as Director of 1 to 1 Contact Centers Inc. in Lancaster for nearly 10 years.

He also is a 24-year member of the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association, and has been active in community volunteering and service projects.

Gramola received his bachelor’s degree from Empire State College in Rochester, New York.

Gramola lives in Lancaster with his wife Karen.

The Bureau of Administrative Services provides support for administrative matters in the daily operation of the Commission.  The Bureau is comprised of the Assessment Section, the Fiscal Office, Management Information Services and Office Services.  The Bureau is responsible for the preparation of the PUC budget, collection of assessments, contracts, travel-related services, management information services support, mail distribution, inventory control and automotive services.
