PUC Releases Final Agenda for Oct. 23 Special Hearing on Wholesale Electricity Markets

HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) today released the final agenda for the special en banc hearing focused on the current and future wholesale electricity markets on Thursday, Oct. 23, 2008.

The hearing will take place in Hearing Room 1, Keystone Building, 400 North Street, Harrisburg.  It is open to the public.  See the PUC’s Secretarial Letter and Final Agenda. 

Another en banc hearing on this topic will be held on Thursday, Nov. 6 following the Commission’s scheduled Public Meeting.  More information will be released soon. 

The five PUC Commissioners will conduct the en banc hearing to solicit comments from the PJM Interconnection; the Midwest ISO (independent system operator); the PJM Market Monitor; the PJM Power Providers Group; and Donsco Inc.

As part of the informal en banc hearing process, Commissioners will pose questions to the speakers after their comments.

The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission balances the needs of consumers and utilities to ensure safe and reliable utility service at reasonable rates; protect the public interest; educate consumers to make independent and informed utility choices; further economic development; and foster new technologies and competitive markets in an environmentally sound manner.
