PUC Fines Allegheny County Moving Co. $5,750 for Violations

HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) today fined Donald Fix, trading as Don Farr Moving Co., Allegheny County, $5,750 for violations of the Public Utility Code and Commission regulations.  

The Commission voted 5-0 to fine the company for violations that include failure to charge a fuel surcharge for ten moves; failure to provide either an information for shippers form or an estimated cost of service form; and a penalty for a move which was outside the company’s jurisdictional territory. 

Don Farr Moving Co. provides transportation of household goods from points originating in Allegheny County. 

The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission balances the needs of consumers and utilities to ensure safe and reliable utility service at reasonable rates; protect the public interest; educate consumers to make independent and informed utility choices; further economic development; and foster new technologies and competitive markets in an environmentally sound manner.
