HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) has partnered with WGAL-TV to bring the power to switch electric suppliers directly to the community and launch the PUC’s new website PAPowerSwitch.com.
From 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 4, consumers can shop, switch and save – all in one location at the Rockvale Outlets, Lancaster.
WHO: PUC Chairman James H. Cawley and representatives of the Office of Consumer Advocate, Energy Association of Pennsylvania and the Retail Energy Suppliers Association
WHAT: A brief kick off with welcoming remarks to launch PAPowerSwitch.com
WHEN: Kick off – 12 p.m. Tuesday, May 4, 2010
Event – 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 4, 2010
WHERE: The Rockvale Outlets, Lancaster, 1719 in Building 17 (near The Disney Store and behind the Cracker Barrel restaurant). The site can be seen from Route 30 across from the American Music Theater.
The PUC and WGAL will host an event where the electric suppliers will be on hand to help people shop for electricity on the spot. A bank of computers will be available for consumers to go to www.PAPowerSwitch.com to review the prices, then actually go to the supplier making that offer that fits their needs best. To make the switch easier, consumers are reminded to bring their PPL bill or account number along.
With www.PAPowerSwitch.com, the PUC is working to make sure consumers have the tools at their fingertips to make an informed decision. The power is in the hand of consumers to shop for an electricity supplier – it’s a zip. Just click and enter your zip code. Review the prices, products, terms and incentives from suppliers making offers in your area.
Pennsylvanians already have the power. With www.PAPowerSwitch.com, they have the information to Shop. Switch. Save.
The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission balances the needs of consumers and utilities to ensure safe and reliable utility service at reasonable rates; protect the public interest; educate consumers to make independent and informed utility choices; further economic development; and foster new technologies and competitive markets in an environmentally sound manner.
