PUC Approves Lower Rate Increases than Requested for Clearfield County Water and Sewer Co.

HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) today approved settlements for lower rate increases than requested for Total Environmental Solutions (TESI) Inc. – Treasure Lake Water and Wastewater Divisions. 

As a result of the settlement, TESI Treasure Lake Water Division will increase its rates to produce $244,917 (40.5 percent) in additional annual revenue.  A typical residential customer using 3,500 gallons of water per month will see an increase from $14.30 to $25.13 (75.73 percent) per quarter.  As part of the company’s original proposal, the average monthly bill would have increased from $14.30 to $32.66 (128.39 percent).  Also as a result of the settlement, the company agreed to not file another water rate case for a period of one year. The company provides water services to about 5,600 customers in portions of Clearfield County. 

Also as a result of the settlement, TESI Treasure Lake Wastewater Division will be allowed to increase its rates to produce $105,059 (10 percent) in additional annual revenue.  A typical residential customer using 3,500 gallons of water per month will see an increase from $27.76 to $33.74 (21.54 percent) per month.  As part of the company’s original proposal, the average monthly bill would have increased from $27.76 to $42.44 (52.88 percent).  As with the water division settlement, the company also agreed to not file another water rate case for a period of one year. The company provides wastewater services to about 5,560 customers in portions of Clearfield County
