HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission today directed PECO Energy Co. (PECO) to review its bill format.
The Commission voted 5-0 to approve a joint motion by Vice Chairman John F. Coleman and Commissioner Wayne E. Gardner which directed PECO to work with the Commission’s Bureau of Consumer Services to determine what changes can reasonably be made to the bill format to clarify customer obligations, including whether the full amount that a customer owes upon failing to comply with a payment agreement should be added. The motion also upheld the Administrative Law Judge’s decision to impose a $1,000 fine for providing inadequate customer service.
The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission balances the needs of consumers and utilities to ensure safe and reliable utility service at reasonable rates; protect the public interest; educate consumers to make independent and informed utility choices; further economic development; and foster new technologies and competitive markets in an environmentally sound manner.
