HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) today finalized a settlement with York Cab Inc. for violations of the Public Utility Code and Commission regulations.

The Commission voted 3-2 to adopt the proposed settlement, which fines the company $5,000.  Chairman Robert F. Powelson and Vice Chairman John F. Coleman, Jr. issued a joint dissenting statement.

Pursuant to enforcement responsibilities, the Commission’s Bureau of Transportation and Safety (BTS) initiated a complaint against the company for failing to maintain evidence of insurance on file with the Commission, for a lapse in insurance coverage and for operating during a lapse in insurance.

York Cab Inc. has a certificate of public convenience for call or demand authority in York County.

The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission balances the needs of consumers and utilities to ensure safe and reliable utility service at reasonable rates; protect the public interest; educate consumers to make independent and informed utility choices; further economic development; and foster new technologies and competitive markets in an environmentally sound manner.
