PUC to Investigate Rate Increase Request by Erie County Wastewater Co.

HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) today voted to suspend and investigate a rate increase request by Fairview Sanitation Co., Erie County.
The Commission voted 5-0 to investigate the request, which proposed an annual increase of revenues of $43,095 (84 percent). The request is suspended for up to seven months and will be assigned to the Office of Administrative Law Judge for a recommended decision or settlement. More information on the ratemaking process is available on the Commission’s website.
Fairview Sanitation Co. provides sewer service to approximately 175 residential customers in Fairview Township, Erie County. Under the company’s proposal, the bill for the average annual residential customer would increase $246.24 a year from $292.60 to $538.84 (84.2 percent).
