HARRISBURG – Twelve state agencies will celebrate Black History Month with a program and a reception featuring the creator of the nationally syndicated cartoon strip “Jump Start.”

Robb Armstrong creator of the nationally syndicated cartoon strip “Jump Start” will showcase the theme of “Black Women in American Culture and History” through live illustrations.

The public is invited to join in the celebration from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 16, 2012, at The Forum, 500 Walnut St., Harrisburg, PA. The pre-program entertainment will begin at 11:30 a.m.

Positioned on stage and drawing on an easel, Armstrong’s images will be broadcast live onto a large screen. Armstrong’s interactive presentation will artistically and humorously showcase this year’s theme.

In addition to Armstrong, the program is designed to uplift local and statewide African-American women who have made a difference in their communities such C. Delores Tucker, who broke racial barriers in Pennsylvania state government, and Harrisburg’s own Patricia Gadsden, who has dedicated her life to helping black women develop self-esteem and preparing them for leadership roles.
