PUC Approves Lower Rate Increase than Requested for Water Co. in Delaware County

HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission today approved a rate increase request by United Water Bethel Inc., Delaware County.
The Commission voted 5-0 to approve the joint settlement allowing an annual increase of revenues of $437,500. The settlement was reached among the Commission’s Bureau of Investigation and Enforcement, the State’s Office of Consumer Advocate and the company. The company had originally requested an annual increase of revenues of $498,495 (37.05 percent). As part of the company’s increase, the quarterly bill for an average residential customer using 16,000 gallons per quarter will increase $21.49 from $66.09 to $87.58 (32.5 percent).
United Water Bethel provides water service to approximately 2,340 residential customers in Bethel and Concord townships, Delaware County.
