PUC Fines Lehigh County Household Goods Mover for Failure to Pay Assessment Balances

HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) today voted to fine C&J Services Inc. $1,015 for failure to file an assessment report for its 2010 calendar year revenues and for failure to pay the required assessment for fiscal year 2011-12. 

The Commission voted 5-0 to fine the company and revoke their certificate prohibiting them from operating legally in Pennsylvania if they fail to pay the fine and outstanding assessment.

The Commission ordered the company to pay $1,116, which includes an outstanding assessment balance of $101 and a $1,015 penalty.

C&J Services Inc. is based in Lehigh County, and provides household goods services between points in Pennsylvania.

Under the Public Utility Code, the Commission is funded by assessments of regulated utilities. The Code also authorizes the Commission to impose civil penalties on utilities for violations of the Public Utility Code and PUC regulations. The company subject to today’s actions, failed to respond to the PUC’s requests to bring their assessments up-to-date and in line with the Public Utility Code.
