PUC to Investigate Rate Increase Request by Peoples TWP LLC

HARRISBURG –The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) today voted to investigate a proposed rate increase by Peoples TWP LLC.   

The Commission voted 5-0 to investigate the request, which proposes an annual increase of revenues of $18.7 million (22.8 percent). The request is suspended for up to seven months and will be assigned to the Office of Administrative Law Judge for a recommended decision. More information on the ratemaking process is available on the Commission’s website.

Under the company’s proposal, the total annual bill for a typical residential customer using 84 Mcf of natural gas a year would increase $22.49 from $79.22 to 101.71 (28 percent) per month.  As part of this increase, the company is proposing to increase the residential customer charge from $12.75 to $20. 

Peoples TWP LLC provides natural gas service to 62,800 customers in Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Cambria, Clarion, Clearfield, Indiana, Jefferson, and Westmoreland counties.
