HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) today approved a settlement for a lower rate increase than requested by Fryburg Water Co.

The Commission voted 5-0 to approve the settlement for an increase of $28,000 (30.89 percent) per year. The company’s original proposal was for an increase of $38,948 (42.98 percent).

Under the settlement, the bill for an average water customer using 2,000 gallons per month will increase from $32.34 to $42.33, or by $9.99 (42.98 percent). The settlement also limits the company’s ability to file for another rate increase for 18 months.

Under the company’s proposal, the bill for an average water customer using 2,000 gallons annually would have increased to $46.24 or $13.90 (30.89 percent).

Fryburg Water Co. provides service to approximately 190 residential customers in portions of Washington Township, Clarion County and Pinegrove Township, Venango County. More information on the ratemaking process is available on the Commission’s website.
