PUC to Investigate Rate Increase Request for Hanover Municipal Water Works

HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) today voted to investigate a rate increase request by Hanover Municipal Water Works, York County.
The Commission voted 5-0 to investigate the company’s annual rate increase request of $1,698,301 (41.1 percent). The request will be suspended for up to seven months and will be assigned to the Office of Administrative Law Judge for a recommended decision. More information on the ratemaking process is available on the PUC’s website.
Under the company’s proposal, the annual bill for the average residential customer would increase by $91.32 from $224.24 to $315.56 (40.71 percent).
Hanover Municipal Water Works provides service to 10,037 customers that reside outside of Hanover Borough in portions of Penn Township, York County; and Conewago Township and McSherrystown Borough, Adams County.
