HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) today approved a lower increase than requested by Pike County Light & Power Co. for its natural gas distribution rates.
The Commission voted 5-0 to approve a settlement for an annual increase of $100,000 (16.4 percent) for the company’s natural gas distribution rates. The company had originally requested an increase of $151,000 (24.7 percent) for its natural gas distribution rates. The settlement was reached among the company, the PUC’s independent Bureau of Investigation and Enforcement, the state’s Office of Consumer Advocate and the state’s Office of Small Business Advocate. Under the terms of the settlement, the average residential natural gas customer’s monthly bill for distribution rates will increase by $8.80, from $45.33 to $54.13 (19.4 percent). The company provides natural gas service to 1,190 customers in Westfall Township and Matamoras Borough, Pike County.
