HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) today approved a joint settlement for a lower rate increase than requested by Pike County Light & Power Co. for its electric rates.

The Commission voted 5-0 to approve the joint settlement among the company, the Commission’s independent Bureau of Investigation and Enforcement, the Office of Consumer Advocate and the Office of Small Business Advocate.

According to the settlement, the company will increase its overall annual revenue by approximately $1.25 million (12.8 percent). The company’s original proposal asked for a $1.7 million increase (17.8 percent).

Under the settlement, the average total monthly bill for a residential customer using 660 kWh per month will increase from $93.06 to $108.10 (16.2 percent). The company provides electric service to about 4,660 customers in Westfall, Milford and Dingman townships, Matamoras and Milford boroughs, Pike County.

More information on the ratemaking process is available on the Commission’s website.
