PUC to Investigate Rate Increase Requests for Sewer and Water Companies in Venango County

HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) today voted to investigate rate increase requests by Venango Water Co. (Venango Water) and B.E. Rhodes Sewer Co. (B.E. Rhodes).

The Commission voted 5-0 to investigate the companies’ annual rate increase requests.  Venango Water is seeking an annual increase in rates of $13,692 (9.9 percent).  B.E. Rhodes is seeking an annual increase in rates of $20,266 (29.4 percent). The requests will be suspended for up to seven months and will be assigned to the Office of Administrative Law Judge for a recommended decision. Under the proposal, the annual bill for the average residential customer of Venango Water would increase by $42.12 from $421.92 to $464.04 (9.98 percent).

As part of the proposal, the annual bill for the average residential customer of B.E. Rhodes would increase by $75.72 from $260.52 to $336.24 (29.06 percent).

Venango Water provides water service to 244 customers and B.E. Rhodes provides sewer service to 224 customers.  All customers are located in Venango County.
