PUC Approves Lower Rate Increase Than Requested for Borough of Ambler Water Department

HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) today approved a joint settlement for a lower rate increase than requested by the Borough of Ambler Water Department in Montgomery County for customers residing outside of the borough’s limits.
The Commission voted 5-0 to approve the joint settlement which was reached among the company, the Commission’s independent Bureau of Investigation and Enforcement and the Office of Consumer Advocate.
According to the settlement, the company will increase its overall annual revenue by $304,000 (25.13 percent). The company’s original proposal asked for an annual increase in revenues of $473,088 (39.58 percent).
Under the settlement, the average quarterly bill for a 5/8” residential meter-usage customer with 14,000 gallons of water will increase by $14.96, from $62.30 to $77.26 (24 percent). The Borough of Ambler Water Department provides service to approximately 3,500 residential customers outside the borough.
