PUC Approves Lower Rate Increase Than Requested for Delaware Sewer Company

HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) today approved a lower rate increase than requested by Delaware Sewer Company (Pike County).

The Commission voted 5-0 to approve an annual increase in rates of $19,845 (83 percent). The company’s original proposal was for an annual increase in rates of $67,663 (284 percent). Rates will not be available until the company files its tariff with the Commission.

Under the approved rates, customers’ monthly fixed, flat rate will increase by up to $33.90, from $52 to $85.90 (65 percent). This is the company’s first rate increase since 1996.

Delaware Sewer Company serves 38 flat rate residential customers within a portion of the Wild Acres development, Pike County.
