PUC Fines Lancaster County Transportation Company for Failure to Pay Assessment Balances

Published on 9/17/2015

HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) today voted to fine Clair Zimmerman and Debra Sensenig Copts T/A Medical Transport (Lancaster County) for failure to pay its assessments for Fiscal Years 2012-13 and 2013-14.

The Commission voted unanimously to fine Medical Transport $1,000 and revoke its certificate, prohibiting the company from operating in Pennsylvania if it fails to pay the civil penalty and file assessment reports for the years in which they failed to file.

Under the Public Utility Code, the Commission is funded by assessments of regulated utilities. The Code also authorizes the Commission to impose civil penalties on utilities for violations of the Public Utility Code and PUC regulations. The company subject to today’s actions failed to respond to the PUC’s requests to bring their assessment reports up-to-date and in line with the Public Utility Code.

The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission balances the needs of consumers and utilities; ensures safe and reliable utility service at reasonable rates; protects the public interest; educates consumers to make independent and informed utility choices; furthers economic development; and fosters new technologies and competitive markets in an environmentally sound manner.
