Published on 12/22/2016

HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) today approved a settlement with a Lackawanna County limousine company – Nasser Limousine LLC – resolving a complaint filed against the company by the PUC’s independent Bureau of Investigation and Enforcement.

The Commission voted 5-0 in support of the settlement, which includes a $14,000 civil penalty and imposes a number of other requirements on the company.

Specifically, the settlement requires Nasser Limousine to submit an application with the Commission seeking the right to extend its service territory; cease providing any unauthorized transportation services pending Commission review and approval of an application to serve additional areas; file timely assessment reports with the Commission and pay all required assessments.

Under the terms of the settlement, owner John C. Nasser certifies that he fully understands the Commission’s requirements related to operating as a motor carrier of passengers, and that any failure to comply with those requirements may result in civil penalties, suspension of Nasser Limousine’s operating rights and/or cancellation of its operating certificate.

The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission balances the needs of consumers and utilities; ensures safe and reliable utility service at reasonable rates; protects the public interest; educates consumers to make independent and informed utility choices; furthers economic development; and fosters new technologies and competitive markets in an environmentally sound manner.
