HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) today voted to suspend and investigate a rate increase request by Reynolds Water Co., Mercer County.

The Commission voted 5-0 to investigate the request for an annual revenue increase, which is now suspended for up to seven months and will be assigned to the PUC’s Office of Administrative Law Judge for investigation and a recommended decision.  More information on the ratemaking process is available on the Commission’s website.

Reynolds Water is requesting an increase in annual operating revenues of approximately $236,829, or 45.4 percent.  Under the water company’s proposal, the bill for an average metered residential customer using 9,000 gallons per quarter would increase from $371.04 to $539.48 a quarter.

The company serves approximately 722 customers in Pymatuning, Delaware, and Hempfield townships, Mercer County.
