HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) today approved a joint petition for settlement on a rate increase request by Timberlee Valley Sanitation Company, Inc. (Timberlee Valley), Butler County.

The Commission voted 5-0 to approve the settlement, which includes a $22,560 increase (36.36 percent) in Timberlee Valley’s annual revenues.  The company is increasing its monthly flat rate from $55 to $75 for wastewater services.  For typical residential customers, the cost of wastewater service would increase from $660 per year to $900 per year.

The rate increase will take effect immediately, though the settlement stipulates that the company may not file another general base rate increase request within two years unless certain extraordinary circumstances apply.  Timberlee Valley provides wastewater services to approximately 89 residential usage customers in portions of Connoquenessing and Lancaster Townships, Butler County.

The Joint Petition for Settlement is among Timberlee Valley, the PUC’s independent Bureau of Investigation & Enforcement and ratepayers, Ray and Donna McCarthy. More information on the ratemaking process is available on the Commission’s website.
