Public Input Hearing Set for Proposed Aqua PA Purchase of Country Club Gardens

HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) has scheduled a hearing to receive public comments about the proposed Aqua Pennsylvania purchase of Country Club Gardens Water Co.

       Administrative Law Judge David A. Salapa will conduct the hearings at 2 and 7 p.m. March 1, 2006, at the Woodlawn Fire Co. Social Hall, 2217 Belmont St., Allentown.

       In a joint application, the companies are seeking PUC approval for Aqua Pennsylvania to purchase the water system assets of Country Club Gardens Water Co. Aqua Pennsylvania is also seeking the rights to begin water service to areas currently served by Country Club Gardens while Country Club Gardens is seeking the abandonment of water service in those same areas.

       County Club Gardens serves Lehigh County residents living in Maple Hills Community, Lower Macungie Township; Country Club Gardens Community, South Whitehall and Salisbury townships and Springhouse Farms Community, South Whitehall Township.

       Aqua Pennsylvania serves about 1.3 million people throughout Pennsylvania. The company operates three major regional divisions: southeastern Pennsylvania, central and northern Pennsylvania and western Pennsylvania.
