HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) will hold a public input session regarding the 70 percent rate increase for Pike County Light and Power customers.

The public input session will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. Feb. 27, 2006, at the Delaware Valley High School Auditorium, U.S. Route 6 & 209 between Milford and Matamoras with a snow date of Feb. 28, 2006. Pike County Light and Power customers are invited to join Commission Vice Chairman James Cawley and Commissioner Bill Shane, who will be conducting the session on behalf of the Commission.

The session is part of a fact-finding inquiry into the competitive electric market in Pike County launched by the Commission on Jan. 27, 2006. The inquiry also is looking into attracting more and lower-cost choices for electric customers and making changes in the way power is purchased. The comments received at the session will be entered into the record.

The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission ensures safe, reliable and reasonably priced electric, natural gas, water, telephone and transportation service for Pennsylvania consumers, by regulating public utilities and by serving as responsible stewards of competition.
