PA PUC to Kick Off National Drinking Water Week – “Be Water Wise” Conservation Products, Consumer-Education Water Exhibits to Highlight Celebration

HARRISBURG, Pa – The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) will mark National Drinking Water Week, with a media announcement at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 8, in the Atrium of the Commonwealth Keystone Building in Harrisburg.

Through a partnership with Home Depot, PUC Chairman Wendell Holland, Vice Chairman James Cawley and Commissioners Kim Pizzingrilli and Terrance Fitzpatrick urged consumers to “Prepare Now: Be Water Wise.”

The PUC and Home Depot will highlight home improvements such as low-flow showerheads, simple adjustments to bathroom fixtures and frontload washing machines that allow consumers to conserve this valuable resource while saving money. During the week, consumers will have the opportunity to learn more about simple steps that can be take around the home to reduce water usage.

State Sen. Mary Jo White and State Rep. Carole Rubley will present proclamations from the Legislature commemorating National Drinking Water Week.  Water company  representatives also will be participating.

From May 8 to 10, exhibits from water companies, state agencies and water-related organizations will be on display in the Atrium.  Everyone -- school groups, scouts, state employees and the general public -- is welcome to tour the exhibits, or enjoy their lunch in the Atrium while learning about water.
