5 PUC Commissioners to Join Governor Rendell for 2008 Stay Warm Meeting, Kick Off Campaign to Encourage PA Energy Customers to Turn Down, Seal Off, Save Up

HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) today announced that the five Commissioners will participate in Gov. Edward G. Rendell’s 2008 Stay Warm PA meetings, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 14, with the United Way of Pennsylvania, the AFL-CIO and community groups in York, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Erie and the Lehigh Valley.

Gov. Rendell will participate via video conference from Philadelphia, linking the meetings from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.  Following is a list of the Commissioners’ meetings:

  • Chairman James H. Cawley, York County School of Technology, 2179 South Queen St., York.
  • Vice Chairman Tyrone J. Christy, Pittsburgh Public Schools, Board of Education Building, 341 South Bellefield Ave., Pittsburgh.
  • Commissioner Robert F. Powelson, National Constitution Center Independence Mall, 525 Arch St., Philadelphia.
  • Commissioner Kim Pizzingrilli, Intermediate Unit 5, 252 Waterford St., Edinboro.
  • Commissioner Wayne E. Gardner, Intermediate Unit 21, 4210 Independence Drive, Schnecksville.

The statewide summit of local government, community, religious, labor and volunteer leaders will develop strategies to help Pennsylvanians stretch their heating resources so that they can stay warm all winter.

The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission balances the needs of consumers and utilities to ensure safe and reliable utility service at reasonable rates; protect the public interest; educate consumers to make independent and informed utility choices; further economic development; and foster new technologies and competitive markets in an environmentally sound manner.
