PUC Releases Final Agenda for Nov. 6 Special Hearing on Wholesale Energy Markets

HARRISBURG –The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) today released the final agenda for the special en banc hearing focused on the current and future wholesale electricity markets to be held on Thursday, Nov. 6, 2008, at 12:30 p.m.  This hearing will focus on similar topics as those addressed during the PUC en banc hearing held Thursday, Oct. 23, although different speakers and viewpoints will be represented.  

The hearing will take place in Hearing Room 1, Keystone Building, 400 North Street, Harrisburg.  It is open to the public.  For detailed information, please see the PUC’s Secretarial Letter and Final Agenda.

The five PUC Commissioners will conduct the en banc hearing to solicit comments from the American Public Power Association, the PJM Industrial Customer Coalition, the Electricity Consumers Resources Council (ELCON), Alcoa Inc., and Kenneth Rose, Ph.D., independent consultant.  As part of the informal en banc hearing process, Commissioners will pose questions to the speakers after their comments.

Copies of the testimony presented, as well as audio of the hearing, will be posted on the Commission’s Web site.  Both can be accessed by visiting the PUC Web site at www.puc.state.pa.us.  Under the Electricity tab, select Issues, Wholesale Energy Markets.  Information on the hearing can be found at the bottom of the page.   

For presenters and members of the public submitting reply comments, an original and 10 copies of the reply comments, as well as a copy in electronic format on diskette, must be filed with the Commission’s Secretary on or before Nov. 17, 2008. All reply comments will be posted on the Commission’s Web site.
