PUC Approves Rate Increases for Three Little Washington Wastewater Divisions in Adams and Chester Counties

HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) today voted to approve annual rate increases for Little Washington Wastewater Co. (LWWC) – Gettysburg Links Division (Links of Gettysburg), the Bridlewood Division (Bridlewood), and the Deerfield Knoll Division (Deerfield Knoll).

The Commission voted 5-0 to approve the settlements allowing the Links of Gettysburg, Bridlewood, and Deerfield Knoll Divisions to increase their annual rates.

Links of Gettysburg, which serves about 102 residential customers in Adams County, will raise its annual rates by $26,913 (52.8 percent), which is lower than the $34,469 (80.1 percent) increase the company had originally requested.  The monthly bill for a typical metered residential customer in this division will increase $17.76 from $44.63 to $62.39 a month.  The minimum monthly charge will increase $9 from $35 to $44 per month, and the volumetric rate will increase $2.92 from $3.21 to $6.13 per thousand gallons used.

Based in Chester County, the Bridlewood Division serves about 318 residential customers.  The Commission approved an annual rate increase of $97,411(64.2 percent).  The monthly bill for residential customers in single family homes using 5,600 gallons will increase $14.51 (48.7 percent) from $30 to $44.51 a month.  The current base charge will increase $6.  The monthly bill for customers in townhomes using 3,400 gallons will increase $12.17 (50.71%) from $24 to $36.17.  The current base charge will increase $7 from $24 to $31 and the volumetric rate will remain at $1.52 per thousand gallons used.

The Commission approved an annual rate increase of $20,486 (35.2 percent) for the Deerfield Knoll Division. The monthly base charge will increase $10 from $35 to $45 per month, and the volumetric rate will increase by $1.42 from $1.95 to $3.37 per thousand gallons used.  The monthly bill for the average residential customer using 3,100 gallons of water will increase $14.40 (35 percent) from $41.05 to $55.45.   The Deerfield Division serves about 118 residential customers in Chester County.
