PUC Fines Blair County Transportation Co. for Violations

HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) today fined Altoona USA & Transfer $1,100 for violations of the Public Utility Code and Commission regulations.
The Commission voted 5-0 to fine the company for violations including charging a rate greater than that authorized by its tariff by the Commission and for failing to have tires in safe operating condition installed.
Altoona USA & Transfer provides common carrier by motor vehicle transportation services in Blair County.
The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission balances the needs of consumers and utilities to ensure safe and reliable utility service at reasonable rates; protect the public interest; educate consumers to make independent and informed utility choices; further economic development; and foster new technologies and competitive markets in an environmentally sound manner.
