HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) today fined VA Five Star Inc. $3,050 for violations of the Public Utility Code and Commission regulations.

The Commission voted 5-0 to fine the company.  On June 8, 2011, the Commission’s Bureau of Transportation and Safety (BTS) instituted a complaint against the company alleging that the company permitted its drivers to operate vehicles on three separate dates while under suspension for failing to maintain evidence of insurance on file with the Commission and for failing to have completed a trip sheet.

VA Five Star Inc. is a limousine service and provides service in Bucks County.

The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission balances the needs of consumers and utilities to ensure safe and reliable utility service at reasonable rates; protect the public interest; educate consumers to make independent and informed utility choices; further economic development; and foster new technologies and competitive markets in an environmentally sound manner.
