PUC to Investigate Clearfield County Water and Wastewater Co. Rate Increase Request

HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) today voted to investigate the rate increase requests of Total Environmental Solutions Inc. (TESI) Treasure Lake Sewer Division and Water Division. 

The Commission voted 5-0 to investigate the requests, which total $268,140 (25.6 percent) for TESI – Treasure Lake Sewer Division and $376,120 (62.15 percent) for TESI – Treasure Lake Water Division. The requests are suspended for up to seven months and will be assigned to the Office of Administrative Law Judge for public hearings and a recommended decision or settlement. A final decision in both cases must be made by March 29, 2011. Under the TESI Treasure Lake Sewer Division proposal, the annual bill for an average residential customer using 60,000 gallons per year will increase from $514.08 to $694.44 (35.1 percent).  The company provides wastewater services to about 5,600 customers in portions of Clearfield County. 

Under the TESI Treasure Lake Water Division proposal, the annual bill for an average residential customer using 60,000 gallons per year will increase from $237 to $468 (97.5 percent).  The company provides water services to about 5,560 customers in portions of Clearfield County.
