HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) today voted to investigate rate increase requests for CMV Sewage Co. Inc.

The Commission voted 5-0 to investigate the requests, which will affect about 446 customers in portions of Chanceford and North Codorus townships, York County. The request is suspended for up to seven months and will be assigned to the Office of Administrative Law Judge for public hearings.  A final decision must be made by Sept. 1, 2011.  More information on the ratemaking process is available on the Commission’s website.

CMV has asked for an increase of $10,786 (6.8 percent) for its Chanceford Manor Village Division. As part of the company’s proposal, the annaual bill for an average residential customer using about 54,024 gallons of water a year would increase from $568.56 to 607.24 (6.8 percent). The Chanceford Manor Village Division serves about 278 customers.

CMV has asked for an increase of $259,746 (213.4%) for Colonial Crossing Division. The present bill of $460.84 is based on an annual usage of 54,024 gallons.  Under the company’s proposal, the annual bill would increase to $1,501 that includes a flat rate charge of $333.75 per quarter plus a quarterly surcharge to repay a one-time fee required for CMV to connect to the North Codorous Township Authority’s treatment system.  The Colonial Crossing Division serves about 168 customers.
