PUC Approves Lower Rate Increase than Requested for Erie County Sewer Co.

HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission today approved a lower rate increase than requested by Fairview Sanitation Co., Erie County.
The Commission voted 5-0 to approve a settlement allowing an annual increase in rates of $22,500 (44 percent). The settlement was reached among the Commission’s Bureau of Investigation and Enforcement, the State’s Office of Consumer Advocate and the company. The company’s original proposal increased rates by $43,095 (84 percent). As part of the settlement, a flat rate customer will see an annual increase of $128.60 from $292.60 to $421.20 (43.9 percent).
Fairview Sanitation Co. provides sewer service to approximately 175 residential customers in Fairview Township, Erie County.
