HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) today voted to suspend and investigate two separate rate increase requests made by Timberlee Valley Sanitation Co. Inc. and by the Borough of Indiana for residents living outside the Borough.

Timberlee Valley has requested additional annual revenues of $22,560 (approximately 36.3 percent).  According to the request, the total monthly bill for a typical residential customer would increase from $55 to $75. Timberlee provides sewer service to 89 customers in portions of Connoquenessing and Lancaster Townships, Butler County.

The Borough of Indiana has requested an increase of annual rates of $390,062 (approximately 31.7 percent). Per the request, the Borough states the monthly residential bill for a flat rate customer living outside the Borough would increase from $12.57 to $16.72.  The Borough provides service to 3,525 residential customers in portions of White Township, Indiana County.

The requests are suspended for up to seven months from the time the requested rate increases would have otherwise become effective. The respective rate cases will be assigned to the PUC’s Office of Administrative Law Judge for investigation and the issuance of recommended decisions. More information on the ratemaking process is available on the Commission’s website.
