HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) today approved a rate settlement for electric distribution services provided by Citizens’ Electric Company of Lewisburg (Citizens’ Electric), which serves approximately 7,100 residential, commercial and industrial customers in the Borough of Lewisburg as well as East Buffalo, Buffalo and Kelly townships in Union County.

The Commission voted 5-0 today to adopt the Recommended Decision of PUC Administrative Law Judges Eranda Vero and Charece Z. Collins and approved the joint settlement in this case.

Under the terms of the settlement, annual revenues for Citizens’ Electric will increase by $930,000 (6.8%), compared to an increase of $999,270 (7.3%) that was included in the original request filed by Citizens’ Electric.

Based on the settlement, the total monthly bill for an average residential customer using 1,250 kWh of electricity will increase from $137.15 to approximately $147.69 per month (7.7%).

The settlement was supported by the Pennsylvania Office of Consumer Advocate, the Pennsylvania Office of Small Business Advocate, the PUC’s independent Bureau of Investigation and Enforcement and Citizens’ Electric.
