MEDIA ADVISORY – PITTSBURGH – THURSDAY - PA Public Utility Commission Chairman Stephen M. DeFrank to Testify in Pittsburgh About Electric Grid Reliability

PITTSBURGH – Tomorrow (Thursday, November 2), Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) Chairman Stephen M. DeFrank will offer testimony about electric grid reliability during a joint public hearing in Pittsburgh being held by the Pennsylvania Senate Environmental Resources and Energy Committee, the Ohio House of Representatives Public Utilities Committee and the Ohio Senate Energy and Public Utilities Committee.

  • WHO: PUC Chairman Stephen DeFrank will join a panel involving various state and regional energy experts discussing the reliability of the Mid-Atlantic power grid.
  • WHEN: Thursday, November 2, 2023, at 10 a.m.  
  • WHERE: The Lawrence Welk Room of the Omni William Penn Hotel, 530 William Penn Place, Pittsburgh.

NOTE: Chairman DeFrank’s testimony will be posted on the PUC website following the hearing.

This hearing – the first of two joint hearings being planned by legislators from Pennsylvania and Ohio – is intended to focus on interstate relationships within the regional electric power grid, operated by PJM, the regional transmission organization which coordinates electric grid service for 13 states and the District of Columbia, including both Pennsylvania and Ohio.
