Testimony Comes During a Public Hearing on Grid Issues Convened by a Joint Panel of Legislators from Pennsylvania and Ohio

PITTSBURGH – Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) Chairman Stephen M. DeFrank today offered testimony about electric grid reliability during a joint public hearing in Pittsburgh, held by the Pennsylvania Senate Environmental Resources and Energy Committee, the Ohio House of Representatives Public Utilities Committee and the Ohio Senate Energy and Public Utilities Committee.

“It is important that the voices and concerns of individual states are heard in the regional and national conversations about grid reliability and the ongoing energy transition,” said PUC Chairman Stephen M. DeFrank. “The Commission will continue working with the legislature and other stakeholders across the Commonwealth, and the PJM footprint, to ensure that Pennsylvania’s interests are safeguarded.”

This hearing – the first of two joint hearings being planned by legislators from Pennsylvania and Ohio – focused on inter-state relationships within the regional electric power grid, operated by PJM, the regional transmission organization which coordinates electric grid service for 13 states and the District of Columbia, including both Pennsylvania and Ohio.
