HARRISBURG – Pennsylvania Public Utility Commissioner Ralph V. Yanora has been appointed Co-Vice Chairman of the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC) Committee on Water, continuing the Pennsylvania PUC’s strong tradition of nationwide leadership in utility matters.

“I am honored to serve in a leadership role on the NARUC Committee on Water because the Committee works to address the many pressing water, wastewater and stormwater issues facing our state and nation,” said Commissioner Yanora. “And, I believe it is critical to keep Pennsylvania at the forefront of water, wastewater and stormwater issues in regional and national discussions.”

NARUC’s Committee on Water aims to increase awareness and understanding about the issues surrounding uses and reuses of water and wastewater. Through policy resolutions, panel discussions, and participation in high-level events, the Committee works closely with several agency and stakeholder groups, including the Environmental Protection Agency, the National Association of Water Companies and the Association of State Drinking Water Administrators.

Commissioner Yanora has spent several years serving as the PUC's representative on NARUC’s Committee on Water. Yanora has more than 40 years of experience in the water, wastewater, natural gas and, more recently, stormwater industries.  Commissioner Yanora also is a licensed Master Plumber, and a certified instructor and trainer who has been recognized by the American Society of Sanitary Engineers for his knowledge and dedication to safeguarding water systems. Additionally, Commissioner Yanora is an associate member of the Pennsylvania Rural Water Association, a statewide organization whose mission is to support its approximately 1,100 municipal members along with all water and wastewater operators throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
